Spain's renewables hit 46.9% share in Nov

    December 2, 2022 - SeeNews Renewables

December 2 (Renewables Now) - Renewables accounted for 46.9% of Spain’s total electricity production in November, reaching their highest share since May this year, Spanish grid operator Red Electrica de Espana (REE) said.

In October, renewables achieved a share of 38.5%.

Renewables produced 10,200 GWh in November, up by 5.6% year-on-year. Good gusts of wind boosted the share of wind power in the mix to 31%, the proportion that has not been seen since December 2020.

On November 21, wind power reached a share 52.8% of the total generation that day, reaching the highest level since REE started keeping records of daily production. On the same day at 0855 PM, Spain’s wind turbines churned out 20,607 MW in an instant, REE said.

Power production details for major technologies are presented in the table below:

Technology: Share in November: Estimated production in GWh: y/y change: January-November share:
      Wind 31.0% 6,733 4.8% 21.9%
