Accelerating the construction of 2nd and 3rd phases of the Bushehr nuclear power plant due to the need to increase the power generation capacity

Tehran: The Official website of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran has issued following news:

Approved in the meeting of the Supreme Council of Economic Coordination;

Accelerating the construction of 2nd and 3rd phases of the Bushehr nuclear power plant due to the need to increase the power generation capacity

The Supreme Council of Economic Coordination was held on Wednesday evening under the chairmanship of Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi with the heads of the other two branches taking part.

In this meeting, considering the urgent need of the country to increase the power generation capacity and the irreplaceable role of nuclear power in diversifying the country's energy portfolio, it was decided to take necessary measures to accelerate the construction of the second and third phases of the Bushehr nuclear power plant. In this meeting, while examining the economic conditions of the country, the issue of improving the condition of the stock market by reducing the cost of exchanges was raised and the necessary decisions were taken. The members of the Supreme Council of Economic Coordination also decided that the officials and trustees of the three branches should coordinate as much as possible to improve the livelihood of the people, promote production and create stability in various markets, especially the currency market.
