December 5 (Renewables Now) - The Spanish government has selected 29 green hydrogen projects through two different programmes to receive state subsidies budgeted at a total of EUR 250 million (USD 264.8m).
In the call for proposals under the pioneering H2 programme, the Institute for Diversification and Saving of Energy (IDAE), the Spanish government agency in charge of administering the aid, picked 22 projects that will add 192 MW of electrolysis capacity. The goal of this programme was to encourage production, distribution and consumption of renewable hydrogen within the same location, with an electrolysis capacity limited to more than 0.5 MW and less than 20 MW.
The value chain programme was focused on large-scale electrolysers with a capacity of over 20 MW and integrated into industrial operations. IDAE selected seven projects in this call, according to the resolution.
Among the recipients are Enel Green Power Espana, Cepsa, Enagas Renovable SL, Repsol SA (BME:REP).
The nominations for the state aid are preliminary at this stage. The definitive resolutions will be issue following a period of objections.
