December 6 (Renewables Now) - UK independent energy developer Balance Power said on Tuesday that it has received planning approval to develop a 49.5-MW battery storage project in St Austell, Cornwall.
This would be the firm’s second standalone battery project in southwest England following the approval of the 30-MW North Tawton scheme in November 2021.
The St Austell battery is slated to be energised in 2028, according to Tuesday’s announcement.
The solar PV and battery storage specialist said that it has secured planning consents for more than 396 MW of projects, 164 MW of them in 2022 alone. The firm has a further 1.2 GW of generation projects under development, it added.
