Explosion and fire in a power plant in Rosario

An explosion at Usina Sorrento caused commotion among the neighbors of Sarmiento neighborhood. The column of smoke could be seen from a large part of the northern area of Rosario.

"At 7:35 p.m. there was a failure in the Sorrento transformer station, which was out of service. Personnel of the Empresa Provincial de la Energía is working to verify the origin and to elaborate a contingency plan", informed from the EPE.

"I was sitting on the deck chair when I felt an explosion that knocked me to the ground. There was a kind of shock wave", said a neighbor of Usina Sorrento on the live mobile of Telefe Noticias.

As a result of a power outage of the EPE affecting the water treatment plant in Arroyito neighborhood, it was reported that the supply of drinking water in the city of Rosario, Funes and Villa Gobernador Gálvez has been interrupted.
