Swedish energy company Vattenfall has requested in a letter sent to the Swedish government on 14 September 2022 that the government should speed up the permit process concerning the plans for the large offshore wind farm Kriegers Flak south of Trelleborg. A further letter was also sent of 22 September. Vattenfall warns that the slow processing of the issue may lead to delays in the construction plans of one year. This means that the farm would not be taken into operation in 2028 as planned. A number of permits still need to be granted for the project, including a permit for surveying the sea floor with the objective of installing cables. This permit application was submitted in May 2021. Vattenfall claims that the government has been presented with the necessary information for granting the permit. The farm will have an annual output of up to 2,6 TWh according to Vattenfall.
