In Sweden, figures from the Swedish Energy Agency (Energimyndigheten) show that spot prices for electricity increased from October to November. The largest increase was found in southern electricity area SE4 with an increase from EUR 74.10 (USD 78.10) per MWh to EUR 123.70 per MWh. The average price in area SE3 increased from EUR 73.6 per MWh to EUR 120.0 per MWh. In northern areas SE1 and SE2, the average price increased from about EUR 46.5 per MWh to EUR 111.9 per MWh, the highest monthly figure recorded. Prices in northern Sweden thus approached prices in Southern Sweden. The price increases overall can partly be attributed to ice forming on rivers used for hydropower, and ice on wind turbine blades. Temperatures were also lower in November.
