Siemens Gamesa to perform O&M of 173-MW Scottish wind farm until 2037

December 9 (Renewables Now) - Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (BME:SGRE) said on Friday that it has signed a contract to oversee operation and maintenance (O&M) of the 172.8-MW Clyde Extension wind farm in Scotland until 2037.

Located in South Lanakshire, Clyde Extension has been in operation since 2017. The wind farm is equipped 54 units of Siemens Gamesa’s 3.2-MW wind turbines, which the company has been servicing since the beginning of operations.

The turbine maker signed a new contract with Clyde Wind Farm (Scotland) Ltd to continue with the maintenance for the next 15 years.

Clyde Wind Farm is a partnership between SSE Renewables, which holds a 50.1% stake, Greencoat UK Wind Holdco Limited with 28.2% and GLIL Corporate Holdings Ltd owning the remaining 21.7%.

Siemens Gamesa is also in charge of maintaining the Clyde wind farm, the sister project of Clyde Extension. Together, these two wind farms have a total of 206 turbines between them, which makes them one of the largest onshore wind power schemes in the UK, Siemens Gamesa said.
