Wholesale electricity prices continue to rise

A renewed increase in the price of electricity is to be expected in January 2023. The Austrian electricity price index (ÖSPI) rose by 6.7 percent to 692.49 points in January 2023. Compared to the same month last year, the ÖSPI is 320.7 percent higher.

The base load price rose by 6.7 percent compared to the previous month. However, it has risen by 307 percent year-on-year, the Austrian Energy Agency announced in a statement. The peak load price also increased by 6.7 percent compared to the previous month. But year-on-year, that's a price increase of 355 percent.
