Sabanci Renewables, Inc., a subsidiary of Turkish conglomerate Sabanci Holding, has chosen United States-based engineering and project management company, Bechtel, to construct a 272 MWdc solar facility in Fort Bend County, Texas.
The facility will be Sabanci Renewables' first in the United States. It will be owned and operated by Sabanci Renewables.
Bechtel's scope includes engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project management for the facility. The company is to commence the project in the first quarter of 2023, with completion expected in the second quarter of 2024. The solar energy generated at Cutlass Solar Two is intended to connect to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas' Houston Zone, providing enough electricity to power around 40,000 homes with zero-carbon electricity, saving 600,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions per annum.
