Australian company has ambitious plans to develop alternative energy in Azerbaijan

    January 18, 2023 - Turan Information Agency

Baku/18.01.23//Turan: Yesterday, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with the head of the Australian company "Fortescue Future Industries" Andrew Forest in Davos.

It was noted at the meeting that the memorandum signed between the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan and "Fortescue Future Industries" provides for the implementation of a project to produce wind and solar energy of 12,000 MW. At the same time, the significance of the signing in Bucharest of the "Agreement on strategic partnership in the field of development and transmission of green energy between the governments of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania and Hungary" was emphasized. The importance of supplying the green energy produced in Azerbaijan to the European market in the future within the framework of this project was noted.

During the conversation, the importance of cooperation in the implementation of a project to produce hydrogen, including green hydrogen, was also emphasized in Azerbaijan.

It should be noted that on November 4, 2022, Fortescue Future Industries prepared a project plan for the production and export of "green" hydrogen in Azerbaijan. On December 15 of the same year, the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and an Australian company signed a framework agreement on cooperation in renewable energy projects, as well as the study and development of the "green hydrogen" potential in Azerbaijan. -0-
