Tajikistan's revenues from electricity exports increase

    January 19, 2023 - Trend News Agency

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 19. Tajikistan's revenues from electricity exports increased over the past year, Trend reports via Tajik Media.

The value of electricity exports from Tajikistan amounted to over $106 million in 2022, which is an increase of 10.6 percent compared to 2021.

During the last year, the main importing countries of electricity from Tajikistan were Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.

As reported, Tajikistan will continue to supply electricity to Afghanistan in this year too. In early January 2023, a contract for the supply of electricity from Tajikistan to Afghanistan for 2023 was signed between Afghanistan’s DABS National Power Utility and Barqi Tojik - a National Electricity Company of Tajikistan.

Earlier, the President of Tajikistan reported that for the first time in the history of Tajikistan, the volume of electricity generation amounted to more than 21 billion kWh in 2022. Remarkably, about 95 percent of Tajikistan's energy was produced by hydroelectric power plants in the country.
