January 19 (Renewables Now) - Greek renewable power producer Terna Energy (ATH:TENERGY) has obtained permission to build a 79.8-MW wind farm on Greece’s Evia island, local news portal Newmoney.gr reported on Wednesday.
The positive decision was awarded through the issuance of a special power producer certificate to the developer by domestic energy regulator RAE. The granted license expires in 2048.
Planned to be installed in the municipality of Karystos, the proposed wind farm will consist of 19 turbine generators with a rotor diameter of 136 metres (446.2 feet). Terna will fund the project with equity and debt financing, according to the report.
As of end-September 2022, Terna Energy had 895 MW of renewable power plants in operation, the bulk of which wind, and 1,234 MW of wind, solar, hydro and energy storage projects under construction. The company’s goal is to own 3,300 MW of capacity in 2025.
