The Colorobbia Group, with over 100 years of history in the Italian ceramic industry and specializing in the production of raw materials and semi-finished products for the ceramic and glass sector, has chosen Endesa X to start in the self-consumption in the logistics center that the multinational has in Spain. Thus, Endesa X, the energy services subsidiary of Endesa, will build a solar plant with a total capacity of 2.2 megawatts peak (MWp) in the facilities that the company has in Vilafamés, in the province of Castellón, which after 34 years of history has become one of the largest factories in the world in its sector, according to a statement from the energy company.
3,367 panels on the roof
The photovoltaic solar plant designed by Endesa X will have 3,367 photovoltaic modules that will be installed on the flat roof of the 15,500 m2 building. The large-scale plant will reduce the carbon footprint by 734 tons of CO2 per year, the equivalent of the absorption capacity of 40,370 trees per year, according to the energy company.
3 megawatt hours/year of self-consumption
The forecast - Endesa points out - is that the renewable facility will start to be built at the beginning of the year and, once it is up and running, will produce around 3 MWh/year, which will be entirely self-consumed in the center itself, enabling it to cover 10% of its energy needs (electricity).
Juan Carlos Navarro Mateo, B2B manager of Endesa X in Levante: "At Endesa X we believe that the way to make companies like Colorobbia more competitive, ensuring their long-term environmental and economic sustainability, is through actions aimed at the decarbonization of their production processes. Photovoltaic self-consumption is part of our Net-Zero emissions plan, with which we seek to achieve carbon footprint neutral companies through energy saving and efficiency measures, the decarbonization of all energy demand - with electrification as the main lever -, the 100% green origin of all energy consumed and the adoption of compensation strategies for demand that cannot be decarbonized. With this project, Colorobbia is going to reduce its energy dependence, ensuring 100% emission-free consumption of all the electricity generated by the plant, also benefiting the economy as a whole."
Gonzalo Trilles de Castro, manager of Colorobbia Spain: "Since the beginning of the multinational, we have been committed to using the best available techniques for the conservation of our environment. In fact, for years, thanks to our highly qualified team, we have developed environmentally friendly projects, being pioneers in sustainability as early as the 1970s, as evidenced by some of our patents. The fact that we are able to reduce our carbon footprint by using renewable energies is a demonstration of our continuous commitment to the planet, to society, as well as an objective in our route against climate change, thus following the philosophy of our Founder, to preserve the environment for future generations."
Intelligent monitoring
The self-consumption project carried out for Colorobbia includes Endesa X's Energy Management Service (SGE). According to the company, this service makes it possible to monitor the energy produced by the photovoltaic installations, the energy self-consumed and the savings produced once they come into operation.
