    Electricity generation of Iran’s thermal power plants up

      BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 24. The electricity generation of Iran's thermal power plants increased by 2 percent, during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through January 20, 2023), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Deputy Director of Thermal Power Plants Holding Company (TPPH), Nasser Eskanadari said, Trend reports referring to the Iranian Energy Ministry.

      The deputy director noted that the country’s thermal power plants generated a total of 288 million megawatt-hours of electricity in 10 months.

      “Currently, repair work is being carried out in several thermal power plants. All planned repairs are expected to be completed by the end of the 2nd month of next Iranian year (May 21, 2023),” Eskandari added.

      In total, the power generation capacity of Iran's TPPs is currently 73,086 hours. So far, 605 units have been installed in 134 thermal power plants in the country.

      At present, the power generation capacity of combined cycle units in the country's TPPs is 34,699 megawatt-hours, gas units - 22,558 megawatt-hours, and steam units - 15,829 megawatt-hours.

      The total capacity of Iran's power plants (thermal, hydroelectric, nuclear, renewable, and so on) is currently about 90,000 megawatt-hours. Of this, 81 percent accounts for the country’s thermal power plants.
