Aneo acquires 89-MW wind duo in Sweden

    January 24, 2023 - SeeNews Renewables

January 24 (Renewables Now) - Norwegian renewable energy firm Aneo, a portfolio company of Nordic private equity investor HitecVision, on Tuesday unveiled a deal to acquire two onshore wind farms in Sweden with a total capacity of 88.8 MW for about EUR 100 million (USD 108.5m).

The transaction, marking Aneo’s first inorganic growth investment outside Norway, is aligned with its overall growth target to achieve 10 TWh to 12 TWh of wind power by 2030, a press release said.

The 46.8-MW Grimsås and 42-MW Brännliden wind farms are associated with annual power production of 285 GWh, equal to the consumption of around 18,000 households. Grimsås is located in the municipality of Tranemo in western Sweden, while Brännliden is situated to the north, in the Væsterbotten municipality.

The assets will be purchased from European infrastructure investor Marguerite which on Monday announced the launching of a solar investment platform that will seek to create a portfolio of more than 2 GW of developed and in-development projects over the next six years.

Aneo was set up in 2022 when HitecVision and Norwegian utility TrønderEnergi teamed up to create a new equally-owned renewable energy firm. The company now claims to be the second largest onshore wind operator in Norway, also operating a portfolio of hydropower plants and having downstream electrification activities.

Following the Swedish investment, Aneo will own and operate a total of 11 wind farms with 225 wind turbines, producing 6.5 TWh.
