BayWa r.e. sells 110 MWp of solar projects in UK

    January 24, 2023 - SeeNews Renewables

January 24 (Renewables Now) - German renewables company BayWa r.e. AG has sold two solar projects in the UK, offloading 110 MWp to two different entities for an undisclosed price.

The Munich-based firm said on Tuesday it had sold the 30-MWp Bracks solar project in Cambridgeshire to Railpen, the manager of the UK Railway Pension Scheme. This transaction is the second deal for the pair, after BayWa r.e. sold the Tralorg wind farm in Scotland to Railpen back in 2019.

The 80-MWp Scurf Dyke project near Hull went to a fund managed by Swiss investment advisor and asset manager re:cap global investors. This solar farm will be co-located with a utility-scale battery, BayWa r.e. said.

Both projects come with a contract-for-difference (CfD), which BayWa r.e. secured in the UK’s CfD allocation round 4 in 2022.

BayWa r.e. is currently involved in building Bracks and Scurf Dyke, and expects to commission the plants in 2023. The company also signed 20-year agreements to provide long-term operation and management (O&M) services for both projects.

With the latest transactions behind, BayWa r.e.’s UK team currently manages and operates over 2,000 MW of renewables, while its total pipeline in the country stands at 2,400 MW.
