Germany plans more measures to speed up wind, solar expansion

    January 27, 2023 - SeeNews Renewables

January 27 (Renewables Now) - The German government is preparing a new bundle of measures to further accelerate the rollout of renewable energy across the country in a bid to reach its climate targets.

Speaking at the Bundestag on Thursday, economy minister Robert Habeck said that a so-called solar package in two tranches and a wind energy package will be presented soon. The purpose of the additional measures will be to remove bureaucratic hurdles and accelerate the approval process for new renewables projects.

More details about the planned measures were not disclosed.

In his speech, Habeck noted that Germany must organise the ramp-up of the hydrogen economy this year -- from infrastructure to production and regulation.

The minister further emphasised that in the first quarter, the government will tackle the issue of ensuring competitive electricity prices from renewable sources for industrial clients so that companies can benefit from the advantages of renewable energy.
