Finnish energy company Pohjan Voima has submitted a new zoning initiative for the Leinnevankangas wind farm project to the Municipal Council of Saarijärvi in Finland. In September 2022, the Municipal Board decided not to launch the zoning process. In November 2022, the Municipal Board decided that the Municipal Council is to decide on zoning initiatives and approval of land use plans in future. Pohjan Voima and Metsähallitus, a state enterprise that manages state-owned land and water areas in Finland, propose an onshore wind farm with 12-16 wind turbines for the Leinnevankangas area. Electricity production could begin in 2027.
