Two weeks ago, Norwegian power distribution companies Trollfjord Nett, Vestall, Andøy Energi Nett, Hålogaland Kraft Nett and Elmea protested against the lack of 420-kilovolt power lines to the province of Vesterålen and surrounding areas. The backdrop was that Statnett has postponed plans to build a new power line for the national transmission grid from Ofoten and westwards. Now it has been revealed that a number of businesses are being affected. State-owned power companies Statkraft and Statnett recently threatened to disconnect electricity supplies to protein factory Lofoten Biomarine on Værøy, and aquaculture company Nordlaks' application for electricity to a smolt plant at the Nus Fiord has been rejected, and its box production facility is not able to operate on full capacity.
