    Chubu Electric Power: Started operation of offshore wind power generation projects in Akita Port and Noshiro Port, Akita Prefecture

      Akita Port Offshore Wind Power Co., Ltd. jointly developed Japan's first large-scale commercial offshore wind power plant in Akita Prefecture and Noshiro Port. Akita Offshore Power Co.       Jan. 31 -- Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. issued the following news release:

      Through the special purpose company "Akita Offshore Wind Power Co., Ltd." (hereinafter "AOW") , Omori Construction Co., Ltd., Sawakigumi Co., Ltd., Kyowa Oil Co., Ltd., Kato Construction Co., Ltd., Kanpu Co., Ltd., and Sankyo Co., Ltd. jointly developed Japan's first large-scale commercial offshore wind power plant in Akita Port and Noshiro Port, Akita Prefecture. I have been working on a power generation project.

      Construction work has been completed at the Akita Port Offshore Wind Power Plant, and commercial operation began today.

      The Noshiro Port Offshore Wind Farm started commercial operation on December 22, 2012, and is currently operating smoothly. With the recent commencement of operations at Akita Port, AOW's offshore wind farm has entered full commercial operation.

      Over the next 20 years, AOW will operate and maintain both power plants under the operation and maintenance system based in Noshiro Port.

      The Group has positioned renewable energy as one of its main power sources as it contributes to decarbonization and improved energy self-sufficiency. To this end, we will continue to actively work on the development of renewable energy.
