Sweden: Continued rise in electricity network fees

    February 2, 2023 - M-Brain Nordic News

Swedish electricity companies continue to raise network fees. In the last ten years, electricity network companies have raised network fees more than twice as much as the consumer price index (CPI). The electricity network fee for a detached home has risen by on average 28% since 2012, while CPI has increased by 12%. In the same period, Ellevio raised the price for an average apartment customer by 86%. Eon and Ellevio have now announced network fee rises for detached home customers by 21% and 13% respectively, compared to a year ago. The latest Nils Holgersson Report shows that network fees have risen the most in Kramfors Municipality, Västernorrland County - by 56% in five years. In the period 2012-2019, electricity network companies received a revenue of SEK 346bn (EUR 30.93bn USD 33.61bn). This is SEK 24bn more than what was considered reasonable by the Swedish Energy Markets Inspectorate Energimarknadsinspektionen).
