Acciona Energia to supply renewable power to Grupo Violas in Portugal

    February 7, 2023 - SeeNews Renewables

February 7 (Renewables Now) - Spanish renewables pure-player Acciona Energia (BME:ANE) has inked a ten-year agreement to supply 100% renewable power to subsidiaries of Portuguese business group Grupo Violas.

Acciona Energia said today that it will supply over 55,000 MWh of renewable power per year to group companies Solverde, Clip and Cotesi, among others. Electricity will be supplied with certificates of 100% Renewable Guarantees of Origin issued by the EEGO platform of Portuguese power utility REN.

“This is another step towards our climate goals. The use of clean electricity will reduce our dependency on natural gas, while ensuring competitive energy prices for the next ten years,” said Manuel Violas, President of Grupo Violas.

At present, Acciona Energia has 166 MW of renewable energy capacity in Portugal, including 16 wind farms and the 46-MWp Amareleja Solar Power Plant, one of the largest of its kind in the Iberian Peninsula.
