Decathlon and EDP have agreed to install more than 400 charging points for electric vehicles in Spain, distributed in 39 stores and a logistics center of the company, which will be owned by the energy group, which will also be responsible for their installation, operation and support.
The chargers to be installed will have different power ratings, from semi-fast chargers of 22 kilowatts to fast chargers of 50 kilowatts and ultra-fast chargers of 150 kilowatts, which will also be available for 24 hours. The recharging points will be equipped with contactless technology for payment by bank card or cell phone, although they will also accept payments with the 'Move on' mobility card, developed by EDP.
"This agreement with EDP for the installation of electric vehicle chargers is another step by Decathlon to reduce the carbon footprint of its centers," said Yolanda Lara, Real Estate Director of Decathlon Spain. The director also recalled that her company has been working for "many years" on sustainability, with the renovation of roofs with thermal insulation, the installation of high-efficiency air-conditioning machines and LED lighting systems with intelligent auto-dimming, as well as the start-up of the first photovoltaic plants.
For his part, EDP's Director of Sustainable Mobility, Javier Martínez, stressed that "thanks to the agreement with Decathlon, EDP will expand its recharging network throughout Spain, bringing its recharging offer to neighborhoods and municipalities".
With this new agreement, EDP has reaffirmed its commitment to expand the electric recharging network in Spain, where it already has more than 1,315 points. In 2022, the energy company reached 70,000 public recharging points, avoiding carbon dioxide emissions of more than 575 tons.
