Bishkek combined heat and power plant has electric filters, which need to be replaced - Head of Electric Stations

Kyrgyzstan, Feb. 7 -- The Bishkek combined heat and power plant (BCHPP) has electric filters, Talaibek Baigaziev, Director General of Electric Stations JSC, told AKIpress.

The technical audit of BCHPP is a right thing, he said.

"We will get the technical audit report in a day or two and will analyze it," he said.

The plant has electric filters, he added.

The question is how they work. Emissions are high, he said.

"As far as I know, the treatment system works at 99%. For instance, smoke is almost not seen coming from the new chimney. It means filters work there. Filters on old chimneys need replacement. On the whole, this does not require installation of any analyzers, but significant capital investments. Each electric filter costs more than 100 millon soms. The power plant is old and needs complete rehabilitation. It's better to switch from coal burning to gas," Talaibek Baigaziev said.

Minister of Natural Resources Dinara Kutmanova said earlier the electric filters of the Bishkek combined heat and power plant do not work. "Filters are fiction," she said.
