AMMAN -- The National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) on Tuesday said that the maximum electricity load on Monday night increased to 3,980 megawatts (mw) and the load during the daytime jumped to 3,490mw.
These figures are the highest recorded since the beginning of this year's winter season, according to NEPCO.
The highest ever power load in the Kingdom was registered in December, at 4,010mw, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported, citing a NEPCO statement.
The company said that the power system in Jordan is known for "high credibility that resembles those of developed countries".
NEPCO also stressed its ability to cope with the increasing demand on electricity during the winter through the implementation of proper operational plans and by ensuring power generation plants' ability to accommodate the increasing demand.
