EDPR inks debt funding deal for 149-MW Polish wind portfolio

SeeNews Renewables

January 18 (Renewables Now) - Renewable energy producer EDP Renewables (ELI:EDPR) said today it has sealed a deal to obtain debt funding for a 149.4-MW portfolio of wind projects in Poland.

The project financing was arranged by the European Investment Bank (EIB), Spain’s Banco Santander and Caixabank SA. Denmark’s EKF acted as export credit agency (ECA) coverage provider.

The obtained funds will be directed towards the development, construction and operation of six wind parks in southeastern, northwestern and northern parts of Poland. Namely, these are the Kozlowo and Krasin projects in Warmian-Masurian province, the Lichnowy and Chojnice schemes in Pomerania and the Piatkowo and Bogoria, located in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie and Swietokrzyskie provinces, respectively.

The six wind farms form a portfolio that EDPR last summer agreed to sell to Mirova, the sustainable investment unit of France's Natixis Asset Management. The assets will be offloaded in a deal with an enterprise value of around EUR 303 million (USD 345.3m), as announced in August 2021.
