University of Louisiana at Lafayette Secures Patent on Cascaded Wind Turbine

    Alexandria, Jan. 27 -- University of Louisiana at Lafayette has secured a patent on cascaded wind turbine. Madani Mohammad R and Davis Michael Stephen developed the invention. The patent application number is 16/578,567. The International Patent Classification codes are F03D 1/02 (20060101), F03D 9/25 (20160101) and F03D 80/80 (20160101). Cooperative Patent Classification codes are F03D 1/025 (20130101), F03D 80/88 (20160501) and F03D 9/25 (20160501).

    The abstract released by U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states, "The Cascaded Wind Turbine is a new concept of wind turbine design featuring multiple hubs in succession, each hub segment adds another tier that create a cascading blade configuration. Each blade set is connected to a separate rotor via a telescopic shaft."
