Iran shares data on power generation of TPPs

    A total of 1,996 megawatt-hours were added to power generation capacity of Iran's thermal power plants, about over a year (April 4, 2021 through May 5, 2022), the Deputy Director of Iran's Thermal Power Plants Holding Company, Hamid Reza Azimi said, Trend reports citing Iranian Energy Ministry.

    Azimi noted that at present, the power generation capacity of the country's thermal power plants is 70,634 megawatt-hours.

    "In general, there are currently 590 power units operating at 130 thermal power plants in Iran. As many as 9 new power units have been commissioned at the country's thermal power plants about over one year," he added.

    The official said that about 67.7 percent of the mentioned thermal power plants belong to the private sector.

    "Within the mentioned period, a number of plans were implemented in the country to increase the generation capacity of gas and combined cycle power units. As a result, the country's thermal power plants' electricity generation capacity has increased by 361 megawatt-hours," Azimi also pointed out.
