May 19 (Renewables Now) - A consortium of Dutch industrial electricity consumers has agreed to buy most of the power generated by an offshore wind farm in the Hollandse Kust West (HKW) zone should the SSE-Brookfield partnership emerges as a winner in the dedicated tender.

The VEMW Wind Consortium announced on Thursday that it has teamed up with SSE Renewables and Canada’s Brookfield Asset Management Inc (TSE:BAM.A) as part of their joint participation in the ongoing HKW tender. SSE and Brookfield unveiled their tie-up in late April, saying that the results of the competitive bidding process will be known after the summer.

The term of the offtake contract agreed with the consortium is 15 years.

VEMW represents 13 large and smaller energy users, namely Air Products, Avebe, Royal Cosun, Holland Malt, Huntsman, HyCC, Indorama Ventures, LyondellBasell, Nobian, Nyrstar, Organon, Teijin Aramid and Utility Support Group.
