SeeNews Renewables

May 25 (Renewables Now) - A floating offshore wind turbine foundation concept, a joint development of South Korea’s Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co Ltd (KRX:047040) and Dutch company Monobase Wind BV, has successfully completed model tests at the facilities of Oceanide in France.

The results of the tests, which were conducted over three weeks and completed in March, are well within industry standards, according to an announcement on Tuesday by Monobase Wind.

The MSPAR foundation concept is a combination of a semi submersible and SPAR intended to support 15 MW-20 MW turbines and designed for complete assembly at quayside.

The consortium is now looking to complete basic design and certification in principle by the end of the year. Its ambition is to launch a full-scale demonstrator in 2023/2024.

The companies signed a joint technology development agreement in November 2021.
