June 3 (Renewables Now) - EDF Renewables do Brasil, a unit of French utility EDF (EPA:EDF), has signed a protocol of intent with leaders of the Brazilian state of Paraiba to install 237.5 MW as part of phase II of its Serra do Serido wind project.

EDF Renewables expects to start works on the new addition this month. Construction of the Serra do Serido 242-MW phase I started in mid-2021.

Once finalised, the Serra do Serido complex will become the largest wind farm for EDF Renewables in South America, the state government said

At present, the company's Brazilian unit has 1.3 GW of wind and solar farms in operation and under construction in the country, spread between the states of Bahia, Minas Gerais and Paraiba.
