Siemens Gamesa to supply 37 wind turbines to a wind farm in India

    Wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa will supply Vena Energy with 37 SG 3.6-145 wind turbines for a 133 MW wind farm in the southwest of the country.

    With this project, which will be ready for operation in 2023, the company has already accumulated more than 1 GW in orders for this new turbine model, specifically designed for Indian climatic conditions.

    It launched its new wind turbine model for India in 2020. Since then, it has announced several major projects. The SG 3.6-145 turbine is designed to adapt to the changing and extreme weather conditions in India; it features an advanced cooling and control system, which ensures adaptation and optimal performance also in sites with high temperatures.

    Presence in India

    Siemens Gamesa has been present in India since 2009, where it has installed more than 7.5 GW. The company has blade and nacelle factories, as well as an operations and maintenance center in Red Hills (Chennai, Tamil Nadu). According to the consulting firm Wood Mackenzie, the company is the leader in the country, with a 40% market share.

    It began its collaboration with Vena Energy in 2015 and since then they have developed a total of seven wind farms, with a combined capacity of more than 600 MW, in four different states of the country.
