The 133 MW wind farm will be located in the southwestern state of Karnataka. Installation of the 37 wind turbines, which will be manufactured at Siemens Gamesa 's plants in India, will begin in 2023. SGRE and Vena Energy began their collaboration in 2015 and have since developed a total of seven farms, with a combined capacity of more than six hundred megawatts, in four different states in the country. According to Renewable Energy Capacity Statistics 2022, the annual balance sheet published earlier this year by the International Renewable Energy Agency, India had 40,067 megawatts of installed wind power capacity at the end of 2021. Thus, the great nation of the southern continent is now second in terms of installed capacity in the entire Asia-Pacific region, behind only China (302,583 megawatts) and well ahead of Australia (8,951).

Navin Dewaji, CEO of Siemens Gamesa in India: "This project is the seventh we have closed with Vena Energy. We have been collaborating closely since 2015 and they have been an integral part of Siemens Gamesa's growth story in India. We look forward to continuing this long-standing partnership in the coming years to further drive the country's energy transition."

Siemens Gamesa launched its new wind turbine model for India in 2020. With this new order, more than 1,000 megawatts of orders have already been booked, "which demonstrates," the company explains, "the product's suitability for the Indian market". According to the manufacturer, the SG 3.6-145 turbine is designed to adapt to the changing and extreme weather conditions in India; it has an advanced cooling and control system, which ensures adaptation and optimum performance also in locations with high temperatures.

Siemens Gamesa has been present in India since 2009, where it has installed more than 7.5 GW. The company has blade and nacelle factories, as well as an operations and maintenance center in Red Hills (Chennai, Tamil Nadu). According to the consulting firm Wood Mackenzie, the company is the leader in the country, with a 40% market share.
