Online marketplace for wind areas to be launched in Germany

August 3 (Renewables Now) - Berlin-based Caeli Wind GmbH is planning to launch in the autumn an online marketplace for auctioning potential areas for the installation of wind turbines across Germany.

Even before the start of the platform, the start-up has already contracted areas where a total of 2 GW of wind generation capacity could be installed. This is twice as much potential space as the company had planned for 2022 and represents 66% of the German federal government's target for the year.

With its cloud-based intelligent platform, Caeli Wind aims to bring property owners and wind power project planners together. It also seeks to support the identification and analysis of areas as well as the planning of wind farms in order to increase the supply of wind energy in its home market.

The business is drawing solid interest as Germany plans to double its onshore wind capacity to 115 GW by 2030. In the first half of the year, however, the expansion of onshore wind energy stagnated with gross additions totalling only 977 MW.

Caeli Wind was created in 2022 as a spin-off of LBD-Beratungsgesellschaft, a strategic consultancy for climate protection and decarbonisation.
