Denmark: Cowi to come up with new procurement model for offshore wind

M-Brain Nordic News

Danish engineering consultancy Cowi has been tasked to come up with a new procurement model that will help to speed up the installation of offshore wind turbines. This will be required to realise Denmark's plans to quintuple its offshore wind to 12.9 GW by 2030. Jan Behrent Ibsø, SVP Renewables at Cowi, comments that the significant increase must take place within the next eight years and that new input and innovation will be required to find a procurement model that can handle this accelerated need. Cowi will be responsible for presenting recommendations for a Danish procurement model based on models employed in other countries and present its results to the Danish Energy Agency (Energistyrelsen) before end-September 2022.
