Sweden: Households in southern Sweden at risk of being disconnected from grid

M-Brain Nordic News

Households in southern Sweden are at risk of being disconnected from the electricity grid coming winter, according to grid operator Svenska Kraftnät. Usually, Sweden can import electricity during the days when domestic electricity production is insufficient. However, in a situation in which Europe can no longer rely on Russian gas, this possibility will be reduced, which could mean it will be necessary to reduce power consumption during the coldest days of the year. Anders Wallinder, Head of the Energy Security Department at the Swedish Energy Agency (Energimyndigheten), says there is a list of of different priorities that have to be followed, such as hospitals and nursing homes for elderly.
