September 16 (Renewables Now) - Swiss renewables company and energy trader Axpo Holding AG said on Thursday it had wrapped up the sale of 65.5 MW of wind farms in France to Irish infrastructure investment firm Greencoat Renewables Plc (LON:GRP).

The transaction, which was arranged earlier this year, closed for a “high double-digit million Euro amount”, Axpo said.

Greencoat is handed the ownership over the 20.3-MW Genonville, the 19.8 MW Grande Piece, the 16-MW Arcy-Precy and the 9.4-NW Butte de Menonville wind farms. All four projects were developed and commissioned by Axpo’s subsidiary Volkswind between 2017 and 2022.

Combined, the wind farms generate around 178.5 GWh per year.

Since acquiring Volkswind in 2015, Axpo has been running a wind energy business in France and Germany. The subsidiary has so far developed more than 80 wind farm with a combined installed capacity exceeding 1,350 MW, and boasts a pipeline of over 3,500 MW worth of projects in various stages of development.

Axpo says it plans to develop 3,000 MW of onshore wind farms mainly in France and Germany by 2030.
