September 22 (Renewables Now) - Austrian renewable energy company Enery has acquired a 36-MWp solar portfolio in Romania in a deal that will further expand its position in the country.

All five power plants in the portfolio are operational, generating 41 GWh of clean power annually. The acquired assets are located in the regions of the capital Bucharest and the cities of Arad and Cluj and were commissioned between 2013 and 2014.

The majority of the portfolio's electricity production is marketed under long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Engie Romania, as well as with local industrial off-takers, Enery said on Wednesday.

The acquisition is significantly expanding the Austrian company's position in Romania where it already owns wind farms and hydropower plants.

The deal comes less than a month after Enery agreed to buy all operating renewable energy assets of Canada-based renewable energy company Jade Power Trust (TSXV:JPWR.UN). Among the assets in the portfolio are the East Wind and Baia wind parks in Romania with a total capacity of 62 MW.
