LNG to lead growth in US gas exports - EIA

    March 30, 2023 - Trend News Agency

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 30. Liquified natural gas exports will continue to lead growth in US natural gas exports, Angelina LaRose, Assistant Administrator for Energy Analysis at the Energy Information Administration (EIA), said, speaking at the Wilson Center, Trend reports.

According to LaRose, the exports of LNG are driving the overall production in the US.

"The US set a new record for petroleum products over the last year, 7 percent higher year-on-year. At the same time, the US will remain a net exporter of petroleum products through 2050," she added.

The exports of LNG from the US to Europe increased almost 2.5 times in 2022. According to the EIA, the US exported about 109.3 bcm of LNG in 2022, which is 8.5 percent higher year-on-year.

In the reporting period, Europe became the main supply destination for LNG from the US, accounting for 69 percent of all exports (75.5 bcm).

At the same time, 24.4 percent of the total LNG volume (about 26.7 bcm) was delivered to Asia, the remaining volumes were sent to Latin American countries.
