    Türkiye to import over 10 bcm of natural gas from Azerbaijan in 2023

      Türkiye will import over 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Azerbaijan in 2023, said Elnur Soltanov, Deputy Energy Minister of Azerbaijan, https://en.trend.az/" target="_blank">Trend reports.

      This year Azerbaijan is expected to produce 47 billion cubic meters of gas and about 25 bcm of this volume will be exported, said the deputy minister, addressing discussions on EU-Azerbaijan energy cooperation.

      "Georgia will receive 3.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Azerbaijan this year, while Türkiye will import more than 10 bcm. By the way, Georgia receives almost all of its gas from Azerbaijan and about 1/3 of that comes for free, because they are taking commission for the transit via the pipelines that pass through Georgia's territory," he explained.

      Azerbaijan's gas supplies to Europe began on December 31, 2020 via the Southern Gas Corridor. A total of 46.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas were produced in Azerbaijan in 2022, rising by 6.5 percent, or 2.9 billion cubic meters, compared to 2021.

      A total of 13.4 billion cubic meters of gas were produced from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field and 25.2 billion cubic meters from the Shah Deniz field. At the same time, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) produced 8.1 billion cubic meters of gas.

      A total of 22.3 billion cubic meters of the total volume of Azerbaijani gas produced in 2022, were exported, which is 18 percent more than in 2021.
