Cristina explained the reasons why the energy balance reversed its deficit

    September 26, 2023 - CE Noticias Financieras

After the talk she gave at UMET, Vice President Cristina Kirchner used her social networks to explain the reasons for the fiscal deficit she had during part of her government and how that number was reversed.

"Do you remember when on Saturday, at UMET, I explained why we had fiscal deficit in part of our government? It was because our energy balance had been turned upside down and we had to go from exporting energy for up to 6 billion dollars when Néstor was President, to importing it for the same amount", said the former President on her Twitter account, and quoted a graph from the consulting firm Ecolatina published by Infobae.

There, it can be seen how from 2010 to 2015 there was a drop in the energy balance due to a higher demand from the industrial sector. "Why did the energy balance turn around? Fundamentally for two reasons?", she continued.

Cristina Kirchner explained the reasons why the energy balance turned around:

      1. "The decline in exploration, exploitation and production by REPSOL -the reason why, in 2012, we decided to recover YPF, our flagship oil company, and Vaca Muerta, the second largest unconventional gas field worldwide and fourth of the same oil"-.

      2. "The exponential increase of the internal energy demand by the industry that did not stop growing, the booming commercial activity and the private/residential consumption. How many people bought new appliances, cars, enlarged their house or built a new one? In short... What am I going to tell you?"

After this, the exmandataria highlighted the title of the article by journalist Virginia Porcella. "Energy dollars: the good inheritance that the next government will receive", and indicated that "the good inheritance is Vaca Muerta and the Néstor Kirchner Gas Pipeline".

"And there is a bonus that came with the recovery of YPF: the Palermo Aike gas and oil field in the Province of Santa Cruz, which represents 1/3 of the total of Vaca Muerta", he added.

And he added: "As I always say, there are three things that cannot be hidden for long: the sun, the moon and the truth".
