The average price of electricity in the wholesale market -the so-called pool- stands at 36.84 euros per megawatt hour on Monday. The minimum price, 4.16 euros, will be between 15.00 and 18.00 hours, while the maximum price will be between 09.00 and 10.00 hours, when it will be 95.11 euros/MWh. To this pool price is added, where applicable, the compensation to the gas companies, which has to be paid by the consumers benefiting from the measure, the consumers of the regulated tariff (Voluntary Price for the Small Consumer) or those who, despite being in the free market, have an indexed tariff, which for this Monday will be at 0 euros/MWh, a situation that has been repeated since last February 27.
The average price of electricity in the monthly accumulated up to March 13 stands at 103.43 euros/MWh, i.e. almost 30 euros less than the 131.46 euros/MWh of the same period in February.
The Iberian mechanism, which came into force on June 15, limits the price of gas for electricity generation to an average of 48.8 euros per MWh for a period of twelve months, thus covering this winter, a period in which energy prices are expected to be more expensive.
Specifically, the Iberian exception sets a path for natural gas for electricity generation from a price of 40 euros/MWh in the initial six months, and thereafter, a monthly increase of five euros/MWh until the end of the measure. Throughout this month the price will be 55 euros/MWh.
