Total Eren eyes GW-scale green H2 rollout in Australia

    March 13, 2023 - SeeNews Renewables

March 13 (Renewables Now) - French renewables-focused independent power producer (IPP) Total Eren has opened its fourth office in Australia as it seeks to further expand its local presence in the country by developing gigawatt-scale green hydrogen projects.

The Paris-based firm said on Friday it has identified a hydrogen pipeline with up to 30 GW of potential generation capacity in Australia through its team of local experts. The projects are located across the Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia.

The company’s new office is located in Perth, Western Australia, and will be the hub from which it will lead renewable hydrogen projects in that state. Total Eren’s goal is to play “a pivotal role” in the Aussie state’s renewable hydrogen programme.

“Australia is key in Total Eren’s global strategy,” said David Corchia, CEO of Total Eren.

The French company, which has TotalEnergies among its shareholders, already owns the 256-MW Kiamal solar park 1 in Victoria, which was commissioned in 2020, and will this year start building its second phase, a 194-MW park that will be coupled with up to 300 MWh of battery storage.
