EDF Renewables Ireland to update public on 80-MW wind project

    March 14, 2023 - SeeNews Renewables

March 14 (Renewables Now) - EDF Renewables Ireland, part of Electricite de France SA (EPA:EDF), is preparing to file a planning application for its proposed Kilsallagh wind farm, which will have 13 turbines and a total capacity of about 80 MW.

The company said today that it will hold a public exhibition for the project later this month. After consultation with the local community, the developer plans to submit a planning application and the project environmental impact assessment (EIA) report to An Bord Pleanala in the second quarter of 2023.

The project, which includes a substation and a battery, is located in a forested area near Slieve Carr in County Mayo. If planning permission is granted, the wind farm could come online in 2028.

When the project was unveiled in 2021, the plans were for a 100-MW development.
