Australia India Trade Association Inks MoU with SMART Energy Council of Australia

The Australia India Trade Association (AITA) welcomed to India more than 20 clean energy firms based in Australia. The delegates are visiting the country as part of SMART energy council that is being led by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. On the occasion, the delegates interacted with Kanubhai Desai, who is the minister for energy and finance in Gujarat.

SMART energy council is an independent body for Australia's smart energy industry. Headquartered in Brisbane, AITA looks at strengtehing trade relations between Australia and India.

Some of the clean energy firms that marked their presence at the event included Rare Energy, Element One, Power Ledger, Hydroverse, T3Sol, Seltronic, AERL, Licella, Yuken.

Ashish Katta, Chairman at AITA, commented, "The global market for hydrogen is expected to reach $220 billion by 2028 and we would like to see India and Australia lead this transformation in terms of green fuel technology, smart engines and efficient energy grids."

The event saw the signing of an MoU between AITA and SMART energy council of Australia. The pact has been signed with a view to usher renewable technology and investment in India and Australia. The MoU was signed between the CEO of SMART Energy Council of Australia, John Grimes and the Chairman of AITA, Ashish Katta.

The Secretary-General of AITA, Vineet Rai, remarked, "India has set a target to source half its energy from non-fossil soruces by 2030 and we are trying to provide any assistance we can to help India achieve its targets."

India and Australia have been working towards strengthening their relations on energy. In a key development, Australia's Deakin University has announced that it has partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras for the launch of an Australia-India Centre for Energy (AICE).

Australia has committed to supplying critical minerals, like cobalt and lithium, to augment India's electric vehicles, solar power, defence and other strategic segments.
