RWE to market power from 132-MW wind farm to Polish industry

    March 16, 2023 - SeeNews Renewables

March 16 (Renewables Now) - RWE Supply & Trading, part of German energy major RWE AG (ETR:RWE), said it will market electricity from a 132-MW wind farm in northern Poland to local industrial off-takers.

RWE Supply & Trading has contracted a total of 180 GWh of power supply to unnamed customers from the construction sector for a period of 10 years, starting from 2023.

Windfarm Polska III belongs to a wholly-owned unit of German municipal utility Stadtwerke Muenchen (SWM). It is located in Jasna, in the northern Pomorskie province. Equipped and serviced by Danish major Vestas, it was commissioned in 2021.

RWE’s energy trading unit supplies renewable electricity to industrial customers in Europe and the USA from RWE’s own plants and third-party facilities under power purchase agreements (PPA). The German group is one of the major players in Poland's onshore wind market where it operates 480 MW of facilities.

Stadtwerke Muenchen has been active in renewable energy generation not only in the Munich area but also in other parts of Germany and a number of European countries.
