      Original Press Release:

March 17 -- Enedis SA issued the following news release:

For the 4th consecutive year, Enedis, manager of the public electricity distribution network, is launching a call for tenders for local flexibility services. Open from March 13 to May 9, 2023, it concerns 11 areas identified in 8 departments: Alpes-Maritimes, Ardennes, Charente-Maritime, Indre-et-Loire, Maine-et-Loire, Paris, Rhône, Var.

Objective: to optimize the electricity supply to customers while improving the performance of the electricity network.

Enedis is launching this new call for tenders listing an unprecedented number of local flexibility opportunities to support the sustainable development of the territories . To do this, the company encourages voluntary customers to temporarily adapt their consumption or production of electricity to reduce the demands on the public distribution network , rather than carrying out work to reinforce the structures, which can be long and costly.

This choice to mobilize local flexibilities is indeed more economical and virtuous for the general interest . By making it possible locally to reduce and better distribute the demands on the network during a given period, local flexibilities also contribute to reducing the outage time for customers in the event of an incident. They can be resupplied with electricity more quickly , while avoiding the use of generators, solutions that emit C02.

Local flexibilities are also an essential component of Enedis' preliminary "Network Development Plan" as part of the acceleration of renewable energy production in France.
