March 22 (Renewables Now) - A partnership involving ISC Consulting Engineers and Semco Maritime of Denmark has secured funding to progress the development of a floating offshore substation concept, according to an announcement on Tuesday.
The team, formed in 2022, also includes Aalborg University, Energy Cluster Denmark and Norway and Sweden-based Inocean, which is an affiliated company of Technip Energies. It has obtained funding of an unspecified amount from Denmark’s Energy Technology and Demonstration Programme (EUDP).
“Our team’s goal is to mature our earlier announced FOSS400 design further which will unlock the potential for producing wind energy at sites far from the coastline with deeper ocean depths,” remarked Tommy Flindt, senior director of technology at Semco Maritime.
Work will include a scaled basin test at Aalborg University to validate platform and equipment motions.
