The Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) approved the first modification of the definitive concession in favor of Hydro Global Perú S.A.C., to develop the electric power generation activity in the San Gabán III Hydroelectric Power Plant, located in Puno.
Through Ministerial Resolution Nº 109-2023-Minem/DM, published this Thursday, March 23 in the Legal Norms of the newspaper El Peruano, this modification was established.
Likewise, the General Director of Electricity is authorized to sign on behalf of the State, the first modification of the concession contract N° 494-2016, as well as the corresponding Public Deed.
According to the norm, through Ministerial Resolution N° 478-2016-MEM/DM published on November 22, 2016, the definitive concession is granted in favor of HGP to develop the activity of electric power generation in the San Gabán III Hydroelectric Power Plant, with an installed power of 205.8 MW, located in the province of Carabaya, department of Puno; likewise, the concession contract is approved in which it is established that the start and commercial operation of the project will be on May 13, 2018 and February 1, 2022, respectively.
However, on August 16, 2022, the company requested the modification of the concession, in order to extend to April 27, 2024, the date of the POC (commercial operation) of the San Gabán III Hydroelectric Power Plant.
It also requested to update the technical data of the main hydraulic infrastructures of the project, due to the progress of the detailed engineering.
In this sense, the Minem approved the first modification of the concession and the contract in the terms and conditions that appear in the corresponding minutes.
